Discover Our Local Events

One of the things that draw people to live in a particular area is the type of community and the cultural events that take place there each year. While Niagara Falls boasts one of the most spectacular natural wonders of the world, along with many other local tourist attractions, it is also an area that contains one of the richest cultural offerings in Canada.

Areas to Explore

While there are many beautiful natural scenes to behold at Niagara parks all over the area, none can match the spectacular view that you get watching Niagara Falls from Queen Victoria Park and the surrounding area when it is lit up in spectacular colour. In 2016, the Niagara Falls Illumination Board installed special energy-efficient LED lighting in various locations around the falls to make this marvel possible.

Seeing the Niagara Falls lit up in spectacular colour isn’t an annual event; it occurs every night of the year. But you can also view a schedule of special lighting events to discover all of the special events when particular colours illuminate the falls to mark days of the year to support charitable organizations.

The Niagara Falls are beautiful to view during the icy season. In fact, those who live in the region often claim to prefer to enjoy winter in Niagara Falls because that’s when the tourists dwindle and the falls transform into a wonderous icy landscape.

The best time to visit is between November 13th and February 21st, when you can also see the Niagara Winter Festival of Lights. With more 3 million lights along a route that spans Niagara Falls, Dufferin Islands and the Niagara Parkway, this is one yearly event you won’t want to miss!

Ongoing Entertainment

Concerts, comedians and other special arts events, one of the best venues in the area is the Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort. Each year, you can find over 300 acclaimed entertainment acts schedules at the resort, providing ample opportunity to find something for everyone.

While Niagara Falls is a bustling tourist destination, the city itself represents just a small portion of events offered in the region. If you take a short drive north along a route that follows the gorge along the Niagara Glen Hiking Trail, you’ll come to the quaint yet bustling community of Niagara-on-the-Lake.

While there, you also want to experience the annual Shaw Theatre Festival located in Niagara-on-the-Lake, which takes place between May and December. Besides the eight main plays that the theatre offers, it also hosts a wide assortment of related events and activities.

Niagara Falls Wineries & Wine Tours

Spending a fun afternoon out may involve sitting among vast gardens and curated outdoor spaces, tasting the incredible vintages offered at some of the world’s top wineries.

Bordered by both the Niagara River and Lake Ontario, the climate is perfect for great ripening, and an earlier spring means the grapes will have a longer growing season and enjoy better depth of flavour and ripeness at harvest time.

Living in the region means you have access to some of the top wineries in the province, like:

Jackson Triggs Winery and Rosewood Estates Winery, and many more to pick from
